Invisalign is the preferred way for teens and adults to straighten their teeth and achieve optimal oral health. Teens and adults love Invisalign because the aligners are clear, comfortable, and removable. Invisalign can give patients the chance to improve their smiles in a discreet manner because the aligners are virtually invisible to the naked eye.
Although Invisalign treatment can be started during any season, Dr. Bibona believes that summer is a great time to begin. Teens are typically off from school in the summer and don’t have as many commitments such as homework, sports, and extracurricular activities. This makes it easier for them to schedule appointments at our office.
Also, many adults take more time off from work or have more flexible schedules during the summer months, making it easier for them to fit Invisalign into their life. Although getting used to Invisalign is easier than getting used to traditional metal braces, there will be some adjustments that need to be made.
Teens and adults will have to get used to wearing Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours a day, keeping them clean and in tip-top condition, and changing to the next series of aligners as their orthodontist prescribes. If they begin treatment in May or June, they’ll begin to notice results once it’s time to go back to work or school. This can lead to greater confidence and excitement for the upcoming seasons.
Of course, everyone has a different schedule in the summer so it may not be the best time for every patient to begin Invisalign. If you will be traveling frequently or away for most of the summer, beginning treatment in the fall or winter may be a better option.
